Post Doctorate RA - Biomolecular Materials
Full/Part Time: Full-Time
We are seeking a post-doctoral fellow to be actively engaged in performing theory and simulation for BES funded Bio Materials program. We are looking for highly skilled simulators that are proficient with the tools of molecular simulation (molecular dynamics, Monte Carlo) and statistical mechanics of enhanced sampling and coarse graining to be applied to a molecular understanding of ion transport in the vicinity of functionalized pores The successful candidate will work closely with PNNL (Baer) and UW staff (Pfaendtner) to build a comprehensive molecular based program that allows the design of functional membranes based on the fundamentals of the solution response grounded in the hydrophobic effect. There will be opportunities to spend time at both institutions (UW/PNNL) and the details of this will be determined based on research progress and needs of the project.

Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential. The successful candidate will be expected to immediately contribute to existing research projects from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Science, and maintain a strong regular publication record.
The opportunity is in the Chemical Physics and Analysis group, in the Physical and Computational Sciences Directorate of PNNL. The Chemical Physics and Analysis Group is located within the Environmental Molecular Sciences Laboratory (EMSL), a world-class national user facility at PNNL. The successful candidate will have access to a host of state-of-the-art research equipment at this facility and at other laboratories at PNNL. The position is immediately available and remains open until a successful candidate has been identified.
Post-Doctoral Fellow: A Ph.D in Chemistry, Geochemistry, Physical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related fields is required.
