Job Description

Develop the next generation of algorithms and technologies for managing, processing, and analyzing data as part of the Lab’s Advanced Computing, Mathematics, and Data (ACMD) Division! As a postdoctoral researcher, you’ll join a talented, diverse team to conduct basic and applied research while building your skills in computer science, statistics, applied mathematics and engineering. You’ll be mentored by prominent researchers as you build your skills in machine learning, reproducible scientific workflows, or deep learning. There are three roles available; choose the one that fits your passion and career path.

Duties specific to Machine Learning for Non-Euclidean Data Postdoc:
Conduct basic and applied research in one or more of the following areas:
Machine learning algorithms for large scale graph-structured data
Embedding of structured knowledge into machine learning workflows
Manifold learning
Generative models for non-Euclidean data in stationary and time-varying domains

Duties specific to Reproducible Scientific Workflows Postdoc:
Conduct basic and applied research in one or more of the following areas:
Reproducibility of compute and data-intensive workflows
Scalable provenance tracking
Provenance analytics
High-assurance data integration using category theory formalisms

Duties specific to Deep Learning Postdoc:
Conduct basic and applied research in one or more of the following areas:
Domain-aware deep learning
Reinforcement learning
Autonomous learning
Meta-learning

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must have received a PhD within the past five years (60 months) or within the next 8 months from an accredited college or university.

Preferred Qualifications

Strong publication record in high-quality journals and conferences in related areas
Advanced computing techniques including parallel and distributed programming
Experience with machine learning and deep learning programming frameworks such as Scikit-learn, Tensorflow, Keras and Pytorch
Experience in programming languages such as Python, Julia, R, Java and C/C++
Experience in data-intensive computing frameworks such as Hadoop and Spark
Experience in working with large datasets
Strong verbal and written communications skills
Eagerness to work in a multidisciplinary team environment

Recent Ph.D. in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics or related engineering disciplines.
For the Machine Learning Postdoc role, the focus of the dissertation work should be on topics related to the theory and/or application of machine learning.
For the Deep Learning Postdoc role, the focus of the dissertation work should be on topics related to the theory and/or application of deep learning.
