Post Doctorate RA - Synthetic Organic Chemistry
Full/Part Time: Full-Time
The Chemical Biology & Exposure Sciences research group at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory has a post-doctoral research associate position available for an individual with expertise in synthetic organic chemistry. We have a new research program focused on the development and application of activity-based probes in host-associated and environmental microbiomes. This position will involve close collaboration with biologists and will enable research at the forefront of functional analyses in complex biological systems.
We are hoping to identify an exceptionally motivated individual with a doctoral degree and a background in synthetic organic chemistry. Candidates with experience in multistep syntheses will be considered as highly responsive to this job posting. Additional experience in computational modeling of enzyme-small molecule interactions will also be considered as highly responsive, but the candidate must be first and foremost a skilled synthetic chemist.
Additional experience in proteomics, cell sorting, imaging, and/or analytical chemistry techniques is advantageous. We have a highly collaborative and diverse research group, and this position will interface with scientists in gut and soil microbiomes, chemical biology, proteomics, metabolomics, exposure toxicology, and systems biology. Our group is a dynamic mix of senior scientists, graduate and undergraduate students, and post-graduate research associates. The optimal candidate should be excited to work in a multidisciplinary and highly collaborative research environment. For a more detailed overview of ongoing research see the following site: http://omics.pnl.gov/staff-page/Wright/Aaron.
The successful candidate will be expected to collaboratively develop novel ideas and methods for applications relevant to internal and externally funded programs. The successful candidate will contribute to and may lead the preparation of reports, papers, posters, presentations, etc.
