Tech Student - Omics Lab Intern
Full/Part Time: Part-Time
The candidate will support biological sample analysis capabilities in Biological Sciences Facility (BSF). This support will involve performing a variety of tasks that are important to ongoing research, examples of which may include preparation of solutions, labeling of vials, maintenance of freezer space, parts cleaning and organization, laboratory cleanup, cleaning dishes, etc. As the candidate becomes fully proficient with these support tasks, opportunities may arise for direct involvement in project work based on the intern’s interests and abilities.

Candidates must be degree-seeking students enrolled at an accredited college or university. Candidates must be taking at least 6 credit hours and have an overall GPA of 2.5.
The candidate will have completed at least a basic entry level college science course or advanced placement high school science class and be working towards or enrolled in a B.S. degree program in a scientific field. Laboratory experience working with pipets and volumetric glassware is highly desired. Candidate must be local as this position needs to be filled rapidly, and may have the potential to work multiple summers.
This position is intended to provide a mutually beneficial arrangement where the candidate will receive highly valuable experience working in a world class laboratory while staff will benefit from having more time to focus on advanced tasks and project work. Staff will rely heavily on the candidate to be responsible and to perform assigned tasks in a correct and efficient manner. As a result, past work history, volunteer activities, notable achievements/honors, and letters of recommendation will all be seriously considered as part of the selection process for this position.
