The Position:
The Senior Software Engineering Lead (OSD) is focused on creating and evolving dynamic and innovative solutions to effectively support PNNL’s Operational Systems Directorate (OSD). This individual leads a group (10-12) of talented software engineers responsible for a suite of packaged and custom-built solutions across multiple technologies. They are accountable for the vision, direction of the IT business systems in alignment with organizational strategy and the development of high performing delivery teams. This individual has technical experience as well as the interpersonal and influencing skills to drive continuous improvement of our capabilities to maximize delivery of outcomes.

Your key responsibilities and accountabilities would include:
-Lead a team of talented engineers supporting the needs of PNNL’s Operational Systems Directorate (OSD)
-Steward a suite of business systems ensuring they are stable, supportable, intuitive and secure
-Collaborate with Portfolio and Project Managers to ensure business systems are are continuing to evolve to effectively meet the needs of users
-Focus on continuous improvement of the engineering team including staffing, training, and mentoring
-Streamline team development processes using agile methods and removing barriers to effective delivery
-Ensure business systems are being created and refactored in alignment with established processes and standards
-Work closely with peers on assessment and adoption of emerging technologies
-Execute well-managed procedures best practices for deployment, monitoring, and incident management
-Communicate effectively both inside and outside the team

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field plus 7 years experience; or MS degree and 5 years experience.


Preferred Qualifications

-3+ Years Experience managing small to medium-sized engineering teams
-3+ Years Experience developing APIs and RESTful Web Services
-5+ Years Experience with ASP.NET, C#, JavaScript frameworks, SQL, JSON
-3+ Years Experience with Agile development practices, e.g. Kanban, Scrum
-Knowledge and experience in event-driven architectures
-Demonstrated experience in the development of complex software systems using industry best practices
-Experience with DevOps practices including Continuous Integration and Delivery
-Knowledge and experience in applying software design patterns
-Knowledge of secure coding practices (cross-site scripting and SQL injection)
-Exceptional communicator with both technical and nontechnical audiences
-Strong interpersonal skills with ability to lead and influence technical teams
-Demonstrated ability to think strategically to deliver innovative solutions
-Customer service oriented and approachable
-Deliver results with highest level of professionalism and integrity
-Passionate about mentoring and developing staff

Other Information

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a federal security clearance.

Requirements:
* U.S. Citizenship
