Job Description

The Chemical Biology and Exposure Science Team within the Biological Sciences Division at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) is seeking a senior research scientist to contribute to emerging research programs in human exposure and precision medicine. Candidates are expected to have a PhD in genetics, toxicology, chemistry, biological engineering, or related field with 5 years of post-graduate experience in human genetics (emphasis on disease, toxicity or exposure susceptibility) or exposomics. Ideal candidates have experience in the use of deep sequencing, proteomics and metabolomics data to identify genetic mechanisms of susceptibility to chemical, physical and social exposures or expertise in the use of similar tools to assess exposures and responses in human populations. While competency in modern data analytics tools are important, experience in the design and conduct of human studies is preferred.

Minimum Qualifications

BS/BA with 7 years of experience, MS/MA with 5 years of experience, PhD with 3 years of experience


Preferred Qualifications

• PhD in genetics, toxicology, chemistry, biological engineering, or similar discipline with at least 5 years of post-graduate experience in genetics of human susceptibility to disease and toxicant exposures, human exposure assessment or exposomics.
• Skilled professional. Applies, on a broad basis, existing theories, principles, and concepts within the field(s) of toxicology, genetics, data analytics, disease susceptibility and exposure assessment.
• Fully competent in all conventional applications of knowledge common in field(s) of toxicology, genetics, exposure science, and/or the work assigned. Principle Investigator (PI) or Co-PI on projects or tasks.
• Proactively stays abreast of leading developments the field and leads externally in the development new scientific directions. Maintains skills consistent with state of the art.
