High School Science Programs Student - YWiS - Hydrology Intern (Summer)
Full/Part Time: Part-Time
Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) is seeking ambitious, high-caliber sophomore, junior or senior high school students for intern assignments within the High School Young Women in Science (YWiS) Program. This summer internship is a research-based educational experience for sophomores, juniors and senior females. The students must have an expressed interest in and potential for educational opportunities and careers in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM).
The incumbent will perform data cleaning/preparation, and apply data analytics to evaluate spatial data and time series in earth, energy, and environmental systems, with a focus on identifying, characterizing, and comparing extreme/anomalous behaviors associated with multivariate time series including meteorological forcing and ensemble numerical simulations. Academic training in probability/statistics and computer science is desired. Experiences with computer programming (Excel, R, python) is a plus.
