Job Description

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) is seeking ambitious, high caliber sophomore, junior or senior high school students for intern assignments within the Student Research Apprenticeship Program (SRAP). This summer internship is a research-based experience for students who are sophomore, juniors or seniors and/or students traditionally underrepresented in science and engineering.

The position is for working with environmental data and software. Web-based software for analysis of groundwater concentration data is being developed to allow user access to database resources and to apply appropriate analyses. Additional software is being developed to assess remediation endpoints to help determine an exit strategy.

Minimum Qualifications

- Applicants must be currently enrolled as a sophomore, junior or senior in a public or private high school at time of application.
- Applicants must be 16 years of age by June 2018.
- Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher (from beginning of 9th grade to current standing).

Preferred Qualifications

Relevant Course Work Desired: Math (the more the better, including AP Statistics) AP Environmental Science AP Chemistry AP Biology and AP Physics may be useful

Computer Skills Desired: Microsoft Excel Other Microsoft Office software (PowerPoint, Word) Familiarity with VBA, R, or other scientific computing software is a plus

Other Desired Skills: Strong organizational and communication skills Ability to work well on an interdisciplinary team
