Job Description

A postdoctoral researcher is needed in the Catalysis Science Group for research in the design of artificial metalloenzymes for energy related transformations. The project involves a) bioinformatic search and computational modeling; b) cloning, site-directed mutagenesis, expression, purification of proteins; c) spectroscopic characterization using UV-vis, EPR and EXAFS; d) enzymatic assays; e) electrochemical study of metalloproteins; f) x-ray crystallography; and g) kinetic studies using stopped-flow spectroscopic methods.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must have received a PhD within the past five years (60 months) or within the next 8 months from an accredited college or university.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in cloning, site-directed mutagenesis, expression, purification, and spectroscopic characterization of enzymes using UV-vis and EPR is required. Experience in bioinformatic search, computational modeling of metalloenzymes, other spectroscopic characterization methods (e.g., EXAFS), electrochemistry of enzymes, or x-ray crystallography is preferred. Excellent oral and written communications skills are mandatory. Must have the ability to work in a highly collaborative environment.

The perfect candidates would have these 3 characteristics:
Expertise in site-directed mutagenesis, expression and purification of proteins
spectroscopic characterization of enzymes using UV-vis and EPR
Independent and highly motivated

Preferred Education/Credential:
Ph.D. in bioinorganic chemistry, biochemistry or biophysical chemistry
